After deciding on the fairy/folk tale support group route, it was time to start creating the identity. One of the allocated Digital Media Designer’s tasks was to come up with a logo design that could be used on various platforms and could be easily generated into black and white. Once we had decided on the name ‘Modern Rhymes’ it was time to begin.
I started by drawing out some sketches to see what would work with the look we wanted to go for. For some inspiration I looked at various support group websites, such as Alcoholics Anonymous and Birmingham’s Recovery Forum. After getting feedback from the rest of the group I then went on to develop rough mock-ups using Illustrator on the two that the group believed would be the strongest to represent the support group.

After a vote from everyone in the group it was decided to go ahead with the ‘apple’ logo which the idea was derived in reference to Snow White’s poisonous apple, which also set a tone for the type of comedy that we were aiming for in the blap videos. I then set about adding colour to finalise the logo design.
